The Regional Ethnographic Museum – Plovdiv is an established scientific and educational institution and a cultural tourism attraction center. Founded in 1917, it has been housed in the Kuyumdzhieva House, a cultural monument of national significance, since 1938.

The museum preserves over 60,000 cultural artifacts related to the lifestyle, culture, and traditions of two ethnographic groups inhabiting Thrace, the Rhodope Mountains, and the Middle Highlands – the Thracians and the Rhodope people. Among its collections, notable items include copper vessels, ceramics, antique weapons, shepherd woodcarvings, jewelry and church utensils, embroidered and woven lace, costumes from across the Bulgarian ethnic territory, musical instruments, and urban interiors.

The museum is a co-organizer and host of established events such as the International Chamber Music Festival, Traditional Crafts Week, International Biennial “Masters of Caricature,” as well as various concerts, theatrical performances, book presentations, reconstructions of traditional rituals and customs, and more.
