The Organization for management of the Thracian tourist region is established due to the Tourism Act. The organization is a result of the implementation of the national concept for tourist zoning and the establishment of nine tourist regions in the country: Sofia, Rila-Pirin, Rhodope, Thrace, Varna, Burgas, Stara Planina, Danube and the Valley of Roses. The Thracian tourist region includes 35 municipalities, divided into two subregions – Plovdiv and Stara Zagora. The headquarters of the organization is in the city of Plovdiv.
