Development of transversal key competences for experts in tourist information

The Management Organisation of Trakia Tourism Region launched the third project under the Erasmus + Short-term projects for mobility and training of learners and staff in adult education. Its focus are the experts in Tourist Information Centers (TIC) and more specifically the skills needed to provide high quality tourist services.

The main goal of the project is:

  • Increasing the competences of professionals in the TIC, on the territory of the Thracian tourist region.

The main goal will be implemented through working on the following sub-goals:

  1. Development of general digital skills of TIC experts on the territory of TTR;
  2. Development of networking and collaboration skills with other professionals and stakeholders;
  3. Improving the effective communication skills of experts in tourist centers;
  4. Improving language skills. Fostering a culture of inclusion and diversity.

The implementation of the project will contribute to the construction of a network of information centers in the Thracian tourist area, which will facilitate the sharing of information, the creative use of digital technologies, the exchange of ideas and databases at a regional and transnational level.

Main activities related to project implementation include:

  • Information meetings and invitation through media to recruit candidates for participation;
  • Creating a survey and research among the visitors of the TIC;
  • Promotion of sights and events in the Thracian tourist area;
  • Organizing and conducting mobility in Italy – observation of real workplaces in TICs, different in scale and location;
  • Sharing the mobility experience with colleagues and partners;
  • Presentation of research results;
  • We will integrate the results of mobility into the work of the Thracian Tourist Region through:
    • follow-up trainings in presence and online to share the results with TIC experts who did not participate in the mobility.
    • a mentoring program in which each mobility participant will mentor at least 2 TIC professionals, to whom they will pass on knowledge and experience gained during the mobility.

Those wishing to join the project must submit a resume and a motivation letter within the specified deadline – 20.12.2024. The criteria for selecting participants (10 + 2 reserves) include:

  • 2 years minimum experience in TIC
  • Degree of education – Bachelor’s as a minimum
  • Motivation for self-improvement (participation in training courses, interview)
  • Proficiency in English.

The initial selection will be based on documents, followed by an interview. After successful completion of the training, participants will receive Europass certificates.

Partner from the Italian side is Associazione Most, Region Piemonte. 

The trainings during the mobility are planned to take place in cooperation with:

  • Commune di Sesto Calende, Lombardia 
  • Commune di Arona, Piedmont
  • Commune di Milano, Lombardy
